Touched by Love Review & Giveaway

NEW RELEASE........
Touched by Love, The Remingtons #6, Love in Bloom

Fiercely independent Janie Jansen has always believed there were worse things in life than being blind, and she's spent her life proving it. She's moved away from her overprotective parents, built a life in New York City, and is one of the top technical editors in her company. That is, until an unfortunate accident turns her life upside down and she's forced to give up the very independence she's worked so hard to achieve.

Firefighter Boyd Hudson pushed past his tragic past and is weeks away from accomplishing his ultimate dream―being accepted into medical school. His intense focus on his goal while working three jobs has taken its toll. With a trail of failed relationships behind him, Boyd is painstakingly aware of his limitations and avoids girlfriends completely―a difficult task given his attraction to one of his co-workers.

When Boyd comes to Janie's rescue, she's forced to accept his help, and Janie discovers there's more to the sexy-sounding office flirt than one-liners. Their connection deepens as Janie heals, but it turns out that Janie isn't the only one who needs healing. Boyd's painful past comes back to haunt him, threatening their relationship and forcing Boyd to reevaluate everything he knows about himself.

****REVIEW***
Touched by Love is very heart warming and adorable read. The characters stood out and are memorable.
I love how independent and determined Janie is. She doesn't let her blindness stop her, and it's inspiring. Janie is a very strong and brave woman. She faces her problems and fears head on.
I absolutely loved Boyd's character. The way he described the surroundings and photographs to Janie made me adore him.
One of my favorite lines that Boyd says is, "I'm not romantic or heroic. I'm just a guy trying to make a beautiful woman's day a little brighter." I found it ironic since he's a firefighter and was a paramedic. He also helped Janie after her accident. In my view, he's a heroic guy. Boyd also claims not to be a romantic, yet so many things he says and does for Janie is incredibly sweet. That line made Boyd seem humble and down to earth.
Touched by Love left a smile on my face throughout the story.

MeasuPro Non-Contact Thermometer

I received the MeasuPro Non-Contact Forehead & Surface Thermometer through a promotion.

Product Info:
  • Reads within seconds
  • No contact needed on surfaces or forehead
  • Uses infrared temperature sensors
  • Comfortable handle
  • Reads from 94.8F to 107.9F (34.9C to 42.2C) on forehead
  • Surface readings from 32F to 212F (0C to 100C)
  • Takes 2 AAA batteries (included)

The MeasuPro thermometer is a nice way to check the temperature on the forehead or other surfaces.

The device is easy to start up by hitting the trigger button.

The thermometer can provide temperature readings for the forehead or other surfaces using the "M" button to change the modes. The image on the screen will change with the mode. There's also a sound button to make it stop beeping when it's taking the reading.

I usually used this with checking temperatures of the body on the forehead. Depending on the distance from the surface being tested, the accuracy or temperature can change. If too far away, the reading won't be accurate.

This device is easier to use, quicker with readings, and easier to see than thermometers I have that go under the tongue. It does take up more room than those thermometers, yet it's easier to clean.

The only issue I had with this thermometer is that I couldn't figure out how to get the device to turn off. I found that after reading the instructions that it automatically turns off after 30 seconds.

Pros:
- No contact needed
- For foreheads and other surfaces
- Comfortable Handle
- Easy to read
- Quick to use
- Easy to clean

Cons:
- Wish there was also a on/off button rather than just the auto turn off after 30 seconds

Dog Nail Grinder by Luvao

I received the Premium Dog Nail Grinder by Luvao through a promotion.

Product Info:
  • Durable
  • Quick grinding
  • No longer than 5 seconds per nail
  • Easy to clean
  • Takes 2 AA batteries (not included)
The nail grinder from Luvao is a decent dog nail grinder. It worked better than I expected the nail grinder. I was expecting the nail grinder to not do much or to take a long while to get their nails filed down.

The wider open part of the cap is for medium to large sized breeds. The smaller opening is for small pets. My dogs are both smaller, so I used that side to be sure to only do one nail at a time.

Before ever trying the nail grinder on my dogs, I tried it on a few of my longer nails. I wanted to know how it felt before I even dared put it near my dogs.

I could feel the grinder move across my nail and quickly filing it. The feeling wasn't painful. It felt more like a quick vibration and some what tickled. The grinder did give me smooth edges on my nails without splitting them.

This grinder isn't exactly mute. There's still a vibrating sound that the grinder gives off. It made my dogs nervous about having the grinder near them.

If dogs are not calm around the grinder, it could take more than one person to help keep them still.

The nail grinder isn't what I'd consider 100% safe for a pet. There's still a risk of human error if the grinder is put on the pets nail too long and accidentally grind their nail too short, making them bleed.

If you don't rotate the nail or grinder to different angles of the pet's nails, the nails could get sharper than they were before.

The nail grinder is easy to clean and to take off the cap. The directions are included on the packaging.

One thing that I did notice is that the description and the packaging did not tell you what kind of batteries needed.

Pros:
- Quick to use
- Easy to clean
- Different sized openings

Cons:
- Vibration noise can still scare pets (Not mute)
- Can make nail sharper if not used properly

NYC Night Canvas

I received the New York City Nighttime Skyline Canvas through a promotion.

Product Info:
  • 12" x 16"
  • Stretched canvas
  • Features Empire State Building & One World Trade Center
  • Original photo taken by Brooklyn Based photographer Rising Waters Photography
  • Lightweight
  • Can hang by 3M command hook or thumb tack
  • Real wooden frame
  • Metal hanging hook already attached

The NYC Nighttime Canvas is a beautiful canvas print for many styles of decor. The variety of colors in the print can help make it match to different color schemes that decors can have.

The canvas print is much prettier in person than I expected it to be. The amount of detail that is visible and clear in the image surprised me. The photo is a busy image with plenty to look at.

A part of me does wish that further away lines weren't so blurred, as well as some of the lighting. The other part of me realizes that those help brighten the image and create the depth perception.

The frame of the photo is wooden and sturdy. There are a few areas on the wooden frame that's rough, but that side is hidden once the canvas is hung up or displayed.

The staples are okay. The cardboard pieces on the corners when the canvas arrived had me a little nervous taking it off because it was stabled to the rest of the canvas. One staple ended up coming off with the cardboard and another raised half way out. The rest stayed in place.

Like most canvases, this print could be damaged if punctured in the middle where the wooden frame does not provide backing.

Overall, this canvas print is beautiful and fits in with my color scheme well.

Pros:
- Great detail
- Variety of colors in photograph
- Nice wooden frame
- Thick canvas
- Depth perception in photo

Cons:
- Lights on print look blurred
- Some staples came out when cardboard edges were removed

iLucky Portable Mini LED Selfie Light

I received the iLucky Portable Mini 16 LED Selfie Light through a promotion.

Product Info:
  • Manual on/off switch
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Works with iOS 6, 7, and 8.
  • Works with Android systems 4.0 or higher
  • Works with Windows 8.0 or higher

The iLucky Portable LED Light is an okay external device to help provide better lighting for pictures.

The device can be attached to cell phones through the audio jack. It can be rotated to face front or back to provide lighting for either direction.

The light has a manual switch to turn the light on or off. The light is very bright.

Unfortunately, the adjustable light feature did not work with my Android phone. My phone did not recognize the light. The light also can not be fully plugged into the phone when a bulky case is on.

The light can be recharged using a usb port. The light charges at an average rate.

Pros:
- Provides better lighting for photos
- Bright light
- Lightweight
- Manual on/off switch

Cons:
- Easy to lose
- Doesn't fit in phone when bulky case is on
- Adjustable lighting did not work with my phone
